Herkins House takes clients on outings such as grocery store, bank, bowling, bike trails, parks, and several other activities outside of the home. They offer in-house activities including cards, games, painting, etc. They have weekly groups such as budgeting, controlling anger, menu planing, etc. Cable TV is available as well as a variety of movies and Netflix. They promote everyday living skills including but not limited to laundry, cleaning, and cooking. The home operates on a token system and residents earn points for keeping rooms cleaned, showering, chores, and extra help around the home. Clients earn points for each task daily and they can purchase pop, candy, chips, envelopes, paper, and stamps among other items. Clients also help plan dinner menu and help with grocery shopping.
